Roger Du (he/him)

MEd, LMHCA, ESA Mental Health Counselor

Professional Background

With a professional background spanning counseling, education, and the tech industry, I bring a distinctive blend of structure, creativity, and adaptability to my work as a therapist. Prior to private practice, I served as both a school counselor and career advisor, guiding clients through academic and professional pressures, identity exploration, and complex emotional challenges.

As a bilingual clinician fluent in Mandarin, I am able to provide therapy in both English and Mandarin, offering clients the opportunity to engage in the language where they feel most comfortable and authentic.

I hold a Mental Health Counselor Associate License (LMHCA) and dual Master’s Degrees in Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from St. John’s University in New York.

Philosophy

I view each client as the expert in their own life and approach sessions with deep respect for their lived experiences. My role is to help clients reconnect with their values, identify what’s working, and gently shift what isn’t—at a pace that feels right for them. I’m also an advocate for holistic wellness and believe that mental health is deeply connected to physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being. I help clients integrate identity, culture, and environment as they work toward balanced, sustainable growth.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach to therapy is relational and collaborative. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy to help clients explore their emotions, reframe unhelpful thoughts, and develop a stronger sense of self.
