Alec Forsyth (he/him)

MEd, LMHC, ESA Mental Health Counselor

Professional Background

With over a decade of experience supporting adolescents and young adults, I bring both clinical expertise and a grounded, energetic presence to the counseling space. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from a wide range of socioeconomic, cultural, and gender identities, which informs my intersectional and client-centered approach. I strive to meet each person within the unique context of their lived experience. In addition to my work as a therapist, I bring over 10 years of experience coaching athletics at the middle school and collegiate levels—an experience that continues to shape my understanding of motivation, resilience, and growth. I hold a Master's Degree in Education and School Counseling from SPU and a Washington Mental Health Counselor Associates License (LMHCA).

Therapeutic Approach

Person-centered therapy is at the heart of my work. Rooted in research, this approach emphasizes compassion, authenticity, and a judgment-free space where meaningful therapeutic relationships can thrive. Alongside a person-centered foundation, I integrate principles of Intersectionality, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support holistic, flexible, and effective care.

Philosophy

I believe that all clients already have many strengths and deserve to have a community that upholds them when it’s too much to cope with alone. This means I will walk alongside you and seek to create a space where you feel heard, seen, and can build on your strengths to reach your goals. I find that therapy can be fun, engaging, and challenging!
