Your Questions, Answered

  • Therapy here is conversational and collaborative.

You don’t need to have everything figured out or prepare what you wantwhat to say. We’ll start wherever you are and move at a pace that feels right.

Some sessions might feel reflective and insight-focused. Others may be more practical and focused on coping or navigating something specific in your life.

  • No.

Most people come in because something feels:

    • off

    • overwhelming

    • hard to sort through

You don’t need a diagnosis or a “big reason” to start.

  • Sometimes, at first—yes.

Talking to someone new about personal things can feel unfamiliar.
That usually settles quickly once you realize you don’t have to perform or get it “right” here.

  • Fit matters.

You should feel comfortable, respected, and able to be honest in therapy. It’s okay if that takes a little time to develop.

If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, we’ll talk about it openly and help guide you toward someone who may be a better match.

  • Yes. In fact, 3 of our 4 therapists were school counselors before therapists. We have lots of experience with teens!

We work with teens navigating things like:

    • Friend group stress

    • Dating and relationships

    • Anxiety and overthinking

    • School pressure and motivation

    • College anxiety

Therapy gives teens a space that is their own—where they can talk openly without feeling judged, pressured, or worrying about someone else’s feelings.

  • This is one of the most important questions.

Therapy works best when there is trust and confidentiality. We do not share the details of what is discussed in sessions.

We may stay connected with parents in a general way—offering updates, support, and collaboration—while protecting the teen’s confidentiality.

There are a few exceptions related to safety, which we will go over at the beginning so expectations are clear.

  • Most clients start with weekly sessions.

Over time, we may adjust frequency depending on your needs, goals, and schedule.

  • IWe are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly.

We can provide a superbill if you’d like to seek reimbursement through your insurance plan.

If you have questions about cost or this process, we’re happy to talk through that with you.
